Why FRP works for boats

Load-specific laminate design

Glass fibres carry load within the cured resin. Their amount, orientation and placement let the builder tailor a laminate for the hull’s design loads without relying on a solid, heavy section.

Moulded hulls with marine gelcoats

Moulds reproduce hydrodynamic shapes consistently. A compatible marine resin and gelcoat system supports resistance to water exposure and a durable surface finish.

What to specify: Use the boatbuilder’s approved laminate design. Resin, reinforcement, core, bonding and gelcoat choices must account for immersion, impact, UV exposure and applicable marine requirements.
