Why FRP works for bathtubs

Reinforcement behind the finished surface

Resin-bonded glass reinforcement adds support behind an acrylic shell. The backing laminate and support structure must be designed for the filled tub and its intended use.

Resins matched to the shell

Acrylic backing requires a resin designed for that substrate. Cure behaviour and heat generation matter because an unsuitable system can affect the shell or its bond.

What to specify: Confirm whether the part is acrylic-backed or gelcoated FRP. Share the shell material, backing specification, cure conditions, support arrangement and required finish with the manufacturer.
