About this product

Catalyst (MEKP) is methyl ethyl ketone peroxide used as an organic peroxide initiator for curing compatible unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins. It is normally used with an appropriate accelerator/promoter system to obtain the required gel time and through-cure.

Applications

Unsaturated polyester resin; vinyl ester resin; FRP laminates; gelcoats; casting compounds; pultrusion and other peroxide-cured composite processes

Key features

Organic peroxide catalyst; initiates free-radical cure; widely used in polyester and vinyl ester processing; supports adjustable cure rates with the correct accelerator system

Recommended use

Use only within the supplier's specified concentration range and with a compatible resin/accelerator system; control temperature, batch size, and mixing.

Not recommended for

Do not add directly to cobalt accelerators or other incompatible promoters outside the approved resin mixing procedure.

Handling and safety

MEKP is a strong organic peroxide and can be hazardous. Avoid contamination and contact with accelerators, reducing agents, and incompatible materials. Use chemical-resistant gloves, eye/face protection, and ventilation; follow the SDS and local dangerous-goods requirements.
